Nicole Voevodin-Cash creates immersive and site-specific installations that blend sculptural interventions, new media, and ephemeral practices. Central to her artistic ethos is ‘Interaction’ as a sculptural strategy. Imbued with a passion for immersive experiences,Voevodin-Cash crafts artworks that beckon the audience not just to observe but to partake actively. Her creations serve as portals, inviting viewers to step into a realm where visceral encounters unfold, allowing them the agency to engage and influence the artwork’s evolution.
She manipulates and reimagines familiar environments, fostering a sense of wonder and engagement. Through the use of performance, interaction, and sensory elements, invite the audience to actively participate in the creative process, transforming them from mere spectators to integral components of the artwork. Voevodin-Cash’s notable projects have been featured at various prestigious venues and events, reflecting her dedication to creating transformative and participatory art experiences.
Past national projects: Contour 556 Canberra Art Biennial 2022, Lorne Sculpture Biennale 2018, “Lobby Play” at the Institute of Modern Art Brisbane, “Wandering Patterns” at Sydney Olympic Park Bicentenary. Internationally, she was awarded studio residencies in Milan (2004) and Liverpool, UK (2015) by the Australia Council, residencies include Bundanon NSW, Sydney Olympic Park, Ashfield ‘Thrilling Villa, Sydney, International Art Schools Festival Hong Kong. Commissioned LAND and Public Artworks ‘CliqueT’ Blacktown International Sports Park Sydney, “The Green Room” & ‘Afforest’ for Kangaroo Point Park in Brisbane, ‘Watermarks’ Department of Primary Industries QLD, temporary public art project series “Mountain Ranges of Lounges” (Mounges). She has been a finalist in the Helen Lempriere National Sculpture Award, McClelland Sculpture Prize.
