In my series “treeME,” I explore the profound connection between self and nature, blurring the lines between human identity and the landscape. By integrating my form into the landscape as a Tree Deity, I seek to evoke a deep sense of unity and harmony with the natural world.
Each image in this series is a layered composition of light and objects, meticulously arranged to create the visual semblance of a tree. This process involves embedding my body within the landscape, allowing the contours and textures of the environment to merge with my own form. The resulting photographs capture moments where the boundaries between self and tree dissolve, revealing an intrinsic connection to the earth.
The use of light as a sculptural element is pivotal in these works. Through careful manipulation of natural and artificial light, I illuminate the form, adding depth and dimension to the images. This interplay of light and shadow not only enhances the visual impact but also symbolizes the dynamic relationship between life forces and the environment.
Objects found within the landscape are integrated into the compositions, serving as extensions of the body and the tree form. These elements, whether branches, leaves, or stones, become integral parts of the visual narrative, emphasizing the interconnectedness of all things.
“treeME” is an invitation to viewers to contemplate their own relationship with nature. It is a celebration of the symbiotic bond between human beings and the environment, urging a deeper appreciation and respect for the natural world. Through these images, I aim to inspire a sense of wonder and reverence for the living landscape, highlighting the beauty and complexity of our shared existence.
